Computer keeps shutting down

I posted recently that my laptop would shut down if playing pro rugby manager 2. I have now discovered it happens with any game, but no other software. I have virus scanned with norton 2004 (up to date definitions) and it found and quarantined a root kit virus. I have updated my graphics drivers and am running out of ideas. The shutdown is an immediate power down, with a scandisk on restart.

Could be nothing more than its overheating....games are a lot more processor intensive than running software like word, etc. make sure you have all the vents uncovered...especially if they have them on the underside of the laptop

Could also be directx related.. start, run, dxdiag

If you have had a rootkit, you might want to try these scanners

Done that, no hidden processes found (sorry for the delay, been out today). It does seem to be a heat problem. Had the laptop on a cushion, vents on the bottom, now working OK. Many thanks to all who have helped.

PS I have cleaned that entry from hijack this
