I am booking to stay in an apartment in Budapest next year , i am dealing directly with the owner who wants a deposit paying into his bank account now with the remainder paying 4 weeks before we arrive.
He wants the payment in Euros which will be around 200 Euros, would it be better to make the payment on my credit or debit card ?

Hi, don't know if this will be of any help to you, but, was in Budapest myself last year, 3 times, and got a fantastic apartment trough Expedia, if you haven't booked already, I would suggest looking as they do have some very good deals. I also managed to book hotels with them, and wasn't disappointed in the least. Paid by debit card online, in £s.

Hi
I did something similar for our ski apartment hire
I opened a Euro account with Firstdirect (HSBC), changed the sterling into euros in it (got a decent rate) and then they did a transfer to the apartment owners bank account - I think it cost aroud £10
They were not able to process card payments
If you use credit card for foreign currency, most of them charge you a handling fee so be warned!

Yes it would be better to make the payment using your card if he can accept it.
If you are asking WHICH is better, credit or debit - it depends on your bank. Normally credit though.0
