My fridge Freezer broke about a week ago, it is only 13 months old so samsung are repairing it under warrenty. I rang Tesco the day after we found out that the freezer was not working, told to say how much was in the fridge in value, i did not know as it was full. I wrote a list out and priced it all up and it came to around £300. It is a big Freezer, around 179 litres. I then rang back up today as it has been hectic over the xmas holidays and wasnt sure what days they would be open, the woman i spoke to said there was no record of me ringing on the 22nd of december. I am now being asked for photo's of the food as evidence, even though this is at the bottom of the bin outside as i was not asked for any evidence when i first rang up. The lady on the phone did not think i was telling the truth asking me about what was wrong with it, etc.
To make things worse the freezer is still broken and wont be fixed till new year as the part has to come from holland
Do i need proof of the food?

I deal with freezer contents claims (although not on behalf of an insurer) and we normally just ask for a list with prices. There is an element of trust as most people don't keep food receipts for very long.
However, if they have asked for it you will have to provide it so I would take some pictures as best you can, otherwise your claim will not be paid.
Just as well the bin has not been emptied yet!0 -
as indicated above, of course you need to prove that the loss (as you would any other) has occured and the extent of it. Photos of the food in the bin should suffice.0

yeah do the photos, and get a receipt of Samsung (or whoever) fixing the freezer0

£300 is a lot for a freezer claim so most companies would request proof of the food so they can check the claim.0
