I have got 2 paypal accounts - one linked to my personal account and one linked to my business account. If you have more than one bank account and more than one email address then you can more than one Paypal account. Both are in my name Mrs x.
Actually ApplePie is correct, you may only have one of each time of paypal account otherwise paypal say they retain the right to close them all. You may therefore have one basic, one premier and one business (and I think you can also have one micropayments).
If paypal notice you have more than one they will close them, that's why people have problems with these 180 day holds, paypal close accounts and ask questions later.
This is also why I am a tad irritated by paypal at the moment as I opened a new account on Tuesday with the intention of changing it to micropayments straight away, but they just won't blooming well do it. So at the moment I have two premier accounts and worry I'll end up with them limited.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I am booked on one of those "becoming self employed" HM revenue courses. Glad I did it now though not until Feb.
As I have converted my personal Ebay to business, can I use a new Paypal account for this as my current one will have private sales that are not business and will get confusing.
Basicly I want to still have the current Paypal account, but use it for private selling and buying and open a new Paypal account that is only going to have business sales in the financial records to keep everything separate.0 -

The trouble with another email account is having to deal with emails via a website rather than my own Outlook Express. It will mean all my Ebay sales will have to be retrieved via a website which isn't ideal.
It's very complicated having a few email accounts, Paypal accounts and Ebay accounts.0 -

Outlook Express can handle multiple email accounts and will even sort them into separate folders for you - before I switched over to Outlook, I was running 7 different email addresses to it.
Gmail's probably easiest to set up - register a gmail address and then follow the instructions at http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=13276 to get it downloading to Outlook Express. If you choose not to delete messages off the server once they've downloaded, you get an automatic back-up of all your email as well.

I run Thunderbird for my EBay/Paypal/Personal emails as it brings them into, and sends from the individual accounts. I found that Microsoft Live Mail would bring everything into the one page and it was way too confusing. Thunderbird is quite user friendly I have to say.
In regard to the Paypal accounts, I have one business account and one premier.0 -
Ok, I have a Paypal account already in use that is being used for my Ebay (that has just turned into a business) account. I now want to open a new Paypal account that will be connected to my current Ebay (now business) account and the exisiting paypal account be used for a new private seller Ebay account.
Is that possible ?0 -
You can only have one business premeir/account (plus one for micropayments if you want). You can link up to 10 email addresses to one account. I have different email addresses for each ebay account so I can keep track0

Then you canopen a full business paypal account for your business and keep the premier account for your private sales. You just need different bank details and email addresses for the business account and will have to provide paypal with business details.
Is this not correct then ?0
