I know this is an older thread, but it came up during a search, and I found your info.............well..............You are a diamond!
I lost all my music when my laptop went to silicon heaven. When I got a new laptop, I also got a new i-pod, so my ancient Ipod mini was left with all my fabby music on.
We'd retrieved about half the i-tunes library when the old laptop died, but there was still a lot of stuff from CD's etc that we couldn't get back. Of course, it had to be the good stuff we couldn't get back, not the Jonas brothers and Hannah Montanna stuff my daughter had asked us to put on:eek:
I followed your instructions and got the lot back from the ipod mini, and now my touch is happily playing all the good stuff,
Mwah, mwah, mwah....big kisses to you:T:beer::j You have made my day
(However, the people who share the road when I drive to work, windows open, music playing, and me [STRIKE]singing[/STRIKE] screaming my heart out...they don't thank you, they will not be amused when I plug the ipod into the car tomorrow!!)
Glad it worked for you - it's saved me and my friends on a few occasions
I know there are some other tools that can do this, but for me this has always been a pretty straightforward way to do it using just iTunes which is normally on a PC anyway if you have an iPod.
