hcg levels not doubling, any advice please

I am hoping someone of you can tell me who have been in a similar situation to mine.
I am currently 4weeks and 4 days pregnant with our first baby, I am 36.
When I was 3weeks and 3 days my doctor sent me to hospital as I had some spotting, at hospital then done a internal scan but found nothing probably due to early pregnancy. So then for a week I had blood taken every 48 hours but the hcg readings were not great they were, 434, 676, 834 then final one was 864. (they should double every 48-72hours)
As final one was such a poor increase they called me back in and told me I must have an eptopic pregnancy, so sent me for a scan.
However when scanned they found the sac in my womb lady scanning told me sac was right size and looked fine for my very eary stage, she even said often at this stage you cant see the sac there yet so was pleased she could.
Then went back to see doctor who said well you will miscarry as HCG is not doubling...I have another scan booked in 9 days but they expect me to miscarry before then due to hcg levels.
EPU have not been nice to me, they have been so admant it would be eptopic and now its now are very adamant I will have a miscarriage.
Has anyone had this, can my baby stay put and grow or is a miscarrage inevitable.
I would be grateful for any experiences.
Thanks

hcg levels vary for each person. Did you have an internal scan [should have done] what size did the sac measure and could anything be seen within? Noone can tell you that you wont miscarry but a doctor sadly, but i was told with my son, my third pregnancy, that the chances were high due to an empty sac.
You should have been made aware that in the case of ectopic, it is not uncommon to have a psydo sac in your womb, a fake sac basically. I take it she checked your tube to see if they were clear. All you can o now is wait for a next scan. Remember though, its not over yet, stranger things have happened, everything crossed for you x:starmod:Sealed Pot Challenge Member 1189:starmod:0 -
Hi mumslave - Yes it was internal and sac measured what it should for my stage of pregnancy and said it looked as it should for that stage. Yes they checked everything else during the scan.
If it was not for the hcg levels, then they would not be concerned as scan went well. But they say due to hcg levels I will miscarry.0 -
hi hun ((( ))) sorry u r having to go though this hun
i had a simlar thing happen hun and they told me it was a etopic to and i had the injection. but i regert doing it goes my hhc levels didn't fall as quick as they should making me wonder if they had it wrong.
i won't sugar coat it for u hun cause its not fair it doesn't look good and i would prepare yourself for the worse but at the same time while ever theres a sac and your hhc levels r going up theres a chance wait for a natural m/c hun no matter what they say cause its not etopic theres no danger to u and hopefully u have a little fighter and hopfully on your next scan u will see a heartbeat but don't be to worried if you don't cause it could be still to early.
tc hun get lots of rest and i'm really hoping u prove them wrong0 -

In that case they are giving you worst case as doctors like to do. I have been on many pregnancy forums over the last 4 years for obvious reasons and one thing i am aware of, is that hcg levels can and do vary a lot in the early stages. All you can do is wait, again, best of luck. x:starmod:Sealed Pot Challenge Member 1189:starmod:0 -
I went through a similair situation in sept 2008 i was getting spot bleeding docs couldnt find anything on the scan so they did hcg levels mine came out at 1000 and stayed like that for the following three tests varying only by about 10 either way. They told me i needed a laparoscopy as they coudlnt find a pregnancy anywhere turned out it was in my tube so they removed it whilst they were in there. Your situation seems more hopeful as they have found a sac. I do hope everything works out ok for you it is an awful thing to have to go through.:jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0

Thanks ladies, I am staying positive and taking it very easy0

They are rising though and 15% of viable pregnancies just have low rising Hcg levels and can take up to 96hours to double, looking at your figures you are at around the 96hour doubling mark.
If they were falling then a miscarriage would be inevitable. The odds aren't brilliant with those slow Hcg results, but there is still a chance. However nothing that you do or don't do will affect it0 -
Claire-
At the moment to me any rise is good now I know baby is in the right place, so clinging to that.0 -
Hi Penny, I have no actual real knowledge of this, however I was thinking about you and thought perhaps there could have been 2 sacs and you have miscarried one early on.
This could explain why the rise in hcg has slowed so much as it would have been produced by both beans initially (and apparently it is very common to start with twins but never realise it).
As I said I don't really have any real knowledge - it was just a thought.
Thinking of you and sending lots of ((((hugs)))).Proud to be a moneysaver! :cool:0 -
Fingers crossed for you hunny
