Self Assessment - Student Loan Query

Hi - I wonder if someone can offer some advice. I repaid my student loan in full in the tax year 08/09. As such, my repayments are much lower than the 9% x (salary less £15k) they would have been if I had still been in repayment.
The self assessment system tries to add the difference between the two figures to my total bill requiring settlement. Obviously this is not correct but I can't find a way to adjust this or somehow flag that they should only expect the lower amount.
I've raised the query with the helpdesk but I'm guessing it's going to take them a while to come back to me at this time of year. Has anyone else encountered this and found a way around it?
Thanks

As far as I can tell, there is no way around this. You appear to have 2 options - either pay the full amount on the self assessment (including the student loan) and then wait for the Student loan company to send you a refund of the amount overpaid or leave the amount of student loan due outstanding and write to the Revenue explaining your situation.0

Ring the tax office, a colleague received a query like this just the other day, I believe you have to write to us in regards to the issue and the main office will overide the system somehow for you. I think it was termed an anomalie (sp) letter and its needs to be corrected manually.
Really wish i'd been listening in on his conversation now!!!0 -
Thanks both - I think I'll wait and see what the helpline come back with.0
