I do a factory restore (recovery) once every 6mths ans yes its the best way to go.
I first of all back up my files and check the backup(s) then I unplug my printer scanner and remove my Internet Connection, then I perform the restore after that I install sp2 from CD then I put my firewall on (if you have a firewall bundled with Norton or Mcaffee dont worry about this) as I dont have bundled software, I then get my printer installed then re-establish my internet connection, then get all the updates from MS than I install Office then AV then all my other programs then i install me backed up files.0 -

Can you slipstream your factory recovery disk with service pack 2?
Only thing I found with factory recovery is windows installation is usually stored on a hidden drive *H and I have come across friends and relatives where that hidden partition is corrupted.
[PHP]You PC is like a beautiful woman, treat it with love n care, let it tell you what to do, be a good boy and you reep rewards.

So it's an image restore disk and your installation is on a hidden partition?
Tell the company you got your pc from to give you your full version of your ops, as you should be entitled to one.
Those hidden partions can be corrupted.
When you change for a new hd. What then?0 -

I have an XP disk aswell thanks  And Ive also copied the three restore files to disk so I merely install them on a New HDD before I put on the restore CD so all bases covered.0
