If it's free, why not, you may have to pay postage costs though

If you are happy with it, it's not essential, but W7 is better. Backup your data first.

W7 is very similar to Vista. Its basically a development of Vista rather than anything revolutionary. Having said that if you have the upgrade there, it is probably worth installing. If you want to upgrade all you need to do is run the setup program (after backing up as already stated) - it should be pretty straightforward.

Windos 7 is an improvement on Vista but personally I ran Vista from when it ws released to when Windows 7 was released and had no issues with it.

One good thing about Windows 7 though is that it is a bit less resource hungry so it may feel a little faster if you do upgrade. The only downside to Windows 7, in my opinion, is that the Parental Controls are more awkward as you now have to have a Live account and authorise things over the web.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

There si nothing wrong with Vista but with you have a free upgrade to Windows 7 then go for it.

I would definitely upgrade. As said though, backup everything you want to keep first

Upgrade without a doubt, I find it better than Vista and you might as well be as up to date as possible.

I think you'll find the upgrade to Windows 7 a breath of fresh air. Despite what people say, everything is far more logical in the interface; the OS runs far more smoothly, less resource hungry, and the interface is far more 'clean'. Think carefully also about which version of Windows 7 you wish to upgrade to: Home Premium, Professional, or Enterprise & Ultimate (bells and whistles edition .) .
