electric mirror broken

fix it myself, or pay garage?

I enjoy fixing things myself, helps me relax.......but wondering how easy it is to do this job or how I even begin to find out what I need to do? how tricky is it?

An Opel, 4 years old, im wondering whether it is just the thick ice stuck on it. It is only one mirror, the other is functioning fine.

I would let it try and thaw out but if still knacked then should not be too much hassle to DIY, I done Ford Focus no probs in about 20 mins

how did you do it? Haynes manual or?

Should be easy enough, done a few car mirrors in my time, sometimes you need to remove the door card.

If you like tinkering then get an haynes manual from Halfords or Ebay or search for instructions on web.

Trial and error! the interior plate is normally just 'popped' on. Gently try to prise off then look for screws (if a ford the pos those tork type heads). Remove them and the unit should just slide off (was similar on her indoors' Peugeot)
