Q. My credit report shows searches for saving/insurance quotes, does this affect my ability to apply for credit?
A: Not everything that appears on your credit file is visible by lenders. Some savings providers and insurance companies carry out a quick credit check when they provide you with an account or quote, usually to verify your identity or address.
This is almost always classed as an 'unrecorded enquiry' meaning while you see it, lenders don't so it doesn't impact your credit score. Full info in the Credit Rating guide.
