Yorkshire Building Society MPPI

Options
Hi
Grateful for any advice regarding the recent changes to Yorkshire Building Society Mortgage Payment Protection Insurance. I received a letter from YBS last month informing of them switching insurance providers to Aviva. I'm not 100% sure on what are the vital changes and would like some feedback from the forum on whether or not I should stick with the changes or take out a new MPPI. I'm just worried if I take out a new MPPI it would affect the payment should anything happen especially if the new provider states I need to be with them within a set time period before I am legible to any money.

Grateful for any information.

Many thanks

How does the old plan compare to the new one?

Normally in these cases the cover is continuous as its just distributer changing the underwriter and not you changing it. However, if you manually change the insurer then it would be considered a clean break and you would need to requalify.

    Hi there

I have my MPPI with YBS and I had a long discussion with YBS about this.

Apparently Aviva - according to YBS are not that competitively priced for next year onwards and so they have sourced a new provider they now recommend, I forget the name of it but all the T & Cs are the same etc. however we have yet to see the new plan, your cover will not be transferred till you get to see the new policy and obviously the price, they will not transfer the policy without your authority.

This change will not come into effect for some time, your cover will be continuous from what I can gather and Aviva are honouring all policies and paying out premiums until the changover is confirmed.

Give them a call if you want further clarification
  • Many thanks for all your help.
I think I'm going to wait for further information from YBS first before deciding on whether to take out a new insurers as we have been with them for 6 yrs.
