Bathroom refit - South Lancs

Options
Hi,

I'm about to get a new bathroom suite. I will be supplying the bath (already has existing shower over bath which is staying), toilet, sink, wastes & taps.

My bathroom is approx 1700x1660mm. Tiling isn't required (being helped by family!).

Also looking to get a shower pump fitted. Will most likely ask one to be recommended/supplied. I know these range from £100 however. Are these time consuming to fit?

Can anyone give me a rough idea of what I might be looking at. Not had any quotes yet.

I'm in the South Lancs region.
TIA

£300-£600 to fit standard 3 piece suite

Shower pump, These start at £100 but would avoid the most basic, Noise can be a issue

Brands i would only supply and fit

    Stuart Turner monsoon range

    Salamander pump

Before fitting a pump you must check that your water tank is up to scratch, you will require a minimum of 50 Gallon otherwise you run the risk of pump starvation. You may also require a negative head pump

Fitting costs will range vastly, Pump location, tank size, Electrics and RCDs, Fitting of s flange ect

Thanks very much for the info.

Think I might have a problem there as I doubt it's a 50 gallon tank. I'd say it's half that.

labour costs is about right for this area.
re the shower pump. its true that its a real minefield. they are noisy and unreliable, esp the cheap ones, and in most cases a waste of money. all depends on the plumbing system you have in your house.
you cannot just fit one and forget it. then expect it to do what you think it should/will do.
it aint a plug and play device!
    Get some gorm.

    Hi ormus,

I take it you've not had a good experience with shower pumps. How much experience do you have working with them, if you don't mind me asking? In your experience do they make little improvement if not any?

I'm looking to have one fitted as the hot water flow/pressure to my shower is very very very poor... you can't stand under the shower head it's that slow. So, I need to improve the situation...

When you say unreliable, are you able to explain further? Do they need constant maintenance??

A Stuart Turner will last approx 5-7 years on 2 showers a day, The lower end pumps i would say 1-3 yrs. Parts for the Stuart Turners are always available and there pump assist service for repair is very good

Price for a basic twin monsoon is approx £350 trade

If you go for a 2.5bar twin it will give a comfortable shower without a huge amount of noise, The pump can be sat on concrete paving slabs to reduce noise transferrance. If you can fit in a lof space that is insulated then the noise level will be minimal

Fitting in the loft sounds like a wise way to reduce noise.

Thanks again Andy, I'll keep all this in mind.
