Panasonic DECT phone interference

Hi,
We have a couple of Panasonic DECT telephones (KX-TCA150EM) and intermitently we get interference - crackling etc. Its not a problem at our end, but the people we are speaking to will say "Your breaking up, are you still there etc etc."
Its not a range problem as it happens if we are in the same room as the base station and it happens with both of the phones (same model) that communicate with the base station.
I thought it might be our wireless network at first so changed the router channel to use 6 instead of 11, but we still seem to get the problem.
Any suggestions anyone?
Thanks

Could be the neighbours DECT phone
Have you got the DECT phone plugged into an adsl filter, if not, try it.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Hi,
On the filter side - yes everything is filtered - phones, router etc. so this shouldn't be a problem (they are good quality filters as well).
Good point about the neighbours phone - hadn't thought of that. Is there a way around this - can you adjust the frequency etc of the phones? (maybe time to find my manual.......now where did I put it).
thanks

Video senders also use the same frequency, 2.4Ghz, and usually have a switch on the bottom to switch between the 4 channels.
If you have any normal phones, you could plug that in to see if the crackling continues, that would rule in/out wireless issues.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Crackling sounds more like an a problem on the analogue line than on a digital phone. It may be one of your extensions/connections or it may be further back on BT's part of the circuit.
Can you try a corded telephone? You can use BT's Quiet Line Test; dial 17070 and select the option 2 for it (this is free). Press secrecy and listen for background noise and crackle.
Has it ever knocked out your broadband connection?0 -
Hi thanks for the replies.
I tried the quiet line test and sure enough it was noisy, so I tried a corded phone and it was noisy (background hiss - not crackles etc). Curious.
I unplugged everything (answer machine, socket doubler etc), and tried again with corded phone - quiet! Tried the cordless phone - quiet. Plugged everything back in and tried again - quiet. Hmm. Somehow this didn't surprise me though. Most of the time its fine, its just a problem every now and then - and we never hear the loud crackling noise that the person at the other end hears.
The bband connection has never been knocked out.
Thanks again
