If you look around when you are standing at the tills waiting to pay there are normally notices up about refunds not being dealt with until such and such a date.

Didnt see it, not the shops fault then.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

    And if goods were faulty?
  • Could it also not be that stores don't have money available for refunds due to bank holidays etc? It's maybe easier to put restrictions on exchanges and refunds together to avoid confusion.

I think all store's that have this return policy do it to improve customer service during the busiest days after Christmas (26th - 28th December). The stores are busy enough with people going mad with the sales without customers returning unwanted/wrongly purchased items. I'm sure if the item was faulty they would make an exception.

I dont have a receipt to hand but on the back of the River Island receipt it said something along the lines of: To improve customer service there will be no returns between 26th - 28th December.

Nowhere did OP say he/she wanted to be compensated for anything.
That is correct. Presumably they just posted all that extra information which is not relevant to the post for the benefit of fellow posters who may not have otherwise realised the extra time and expense involved in another trip.

That's so funny, why should the OP think they need to be compensated for a luxury item?

Methinks they were jesting about Starbucks......

    Hi,

A few years ago, we bought something from Next which we found to be faulty - we took it back & the assistant stated that we couldn't have a refund & would have to come back in a few days - this was because of the new year sales - I pushed the issue with the manager of the store, who gave me a refund. She stated that the no exchange policy was for people wanting to change because of size, etc - not damage.

Your statutory rights come before any policy the shop may have about no returns .... so if it is damaged, insist it is changed/refunded - but if it is the wrong colour/size ... well you will just have to wait.

  • Hi,

I am unable to take my next delivery back to the shop due to commitments, aslong as I have the delivery note with the item would anyone be able to return it instore or would they need to be the holder of the account?

    Thanks
    Rob
