Turkey Juices

I just don't know what to do with this! It has congealed into a jelly now and I dont want to waste it - any ideas? :confused:

    Hi faye,

    When you reheat the juices they will liquify again. You could use the juices as stock to make soup or gravy or as a base for a pie, risotto etc. It can also be frozen until you need it.

    I made a gravy before Christmas after watching it done on Jamie Oliver and froze it ready for the big day. Before I froze it it was yummy but I couldn't even bring myself to let people try it it looked like slime and tasted as bad. First try and last I think I had to grab the bisto quick goodness knows what I did wrong :(

    oh no, so did it totally change once you froze it? I tried to make gravy from scratch and was a total disaster without a freezer being involved. Don't worry about it! x

  • Oh I would use it as a base for a pie, with some leeks and maybe some ham, turkey or chicken. sweat leeks, then add a little flour and the jellied stock to make a sauce. Yum yum

    There is tonnes of the stuff - I think I could make the worlds biggest pie with it all :rotfl: I think maybe I wont freeze it then and just make bits and bobs with it :confused:

    Chop some celery, a couple of leeks and a few potatoes - I have found lately that turkey stock makes a lovely base for leek & potato soup. Add a little veg stock made from stock cube/swiss bullion if necessary and blend it all when veg is soft. Scrumptious!

    If there is a lot then freeze it in small portions or even in an ice cube tray so you can lift out the amount you need when you need it.
