Car Insurance - Quinn ripping me off for changing address?

Hi All,
I'm 24 years old and have been driving since May 2009. My car insurance is with Quinn Direct and I have recently moved home so I called them to update my address. I was told that to change my address I would need to pay an additional premium of £1,321.44!
I'm currently only paying £600 per year and the car (2005 Citroen C3 1.4) is still in a locked compound.
So my questions are as follows:
1) Can I cancel my insurance midterm with Quinn and find another provider? If not, do I legally have to pay this charge?
2) Where does that leave me with my no claims bonus, as I have only been with Quinn for 7 months?
Thanks a lot,
Will

Yes you can cancel mid-term however be aware
1) Short term rates for 7 months will be more expensive than a 12 month policy so you won't get it pro-rata i.e. it will cost more than 7/12ths.
2) There may be an admin fee up to £75
3) You'll lose your no claims.
Why don't you shop around first.
Perhaps the new area is much more expensive and perhaps Quinn are competitive.
Don't cancel it until you've done research into the market elsewhere.0 -
Just to clarify lisyloo's point c above - you won't lose all your no claims, just the last 7 months won't count. So if you joined Quinn with 2 years, then you still have 2 years.
According to the policy book, cancelling up to 7 months you will receive a refund of 25%, up to 8 months will be 20%.0 -
Sorry yes, just meant the 7 months won't count.
What you have from before will still be valid providing you have your last renewal notice or Quinn are helpful in providing the proof.0 -
