Perfume smells strange..

I work as a fragrance consultant and have come across this problem occasionally - normally if the unopened box has been exposed to heat & light. They do go off. Also perfumes do have a shelf life, so if Debhenhams are coming to the end of their stock and its been there 2 years - its also a probability, I think you should ask for a refund and they should accomodate - just put these problems to them.0

Funnily enough- with regards to the light and heat thing - I'm always reluctact to buy perfumes in Boots as they have really hot bright lights right buy some of their perfumes. I've smelt testers in boots before that i'm convinced have gone off.0

Thanks everyone for your comments/advice, i am only reluctant as I have to go back there a 2nd time because of the same problem (although the manager was v understanding).
Bridggadeen22 - Yes they only have 4 or 5 various AP items on the shelf so it seems that way. It smells like alcohol - really off putting.
I do want the AP perfume so have contacted AP direct and they have advised me to send it back to them.0 -
Hi, just to say I wear Agent Provocateur as does a close friend and my mum. My mum decided she wanted some after she smelled it on me. The bottle I am using was bought at Debenhams and I would say it smells "normal", my Mum's bottle however doesn't smell the same at all, its almost "tangy"... the mystery deepens!0

Hmmm interesting... what is your mum going to do?0 -
She has had it for a little while now so nothing I think. Funny, after reading this thread I decided to wear mine today and a man in B&Q said "That's a lovely perfume you are wearing, what is it?"! Hope you get yours sorted, I think you should take it in and just say "I've had this perfume before and I believe that I have been sold a bottle that is off, I would like a refund." then if they give you a cash refund buy it direct from Agent Provocateur!0
