Set up help needed with freeview dvd recorder and 2nd digibox

Hi everyone,

I'm pretty useless with these things, so any help would be
greatly appreciated.

I've just bought a Panny DMRES20 dvd recorder
with integrated freeview, and want to keep my
old Pace On Digital box to use when I am recording from the
Panny.

When I switch on the Pace whilst the Panny is on, I select av2
on the tv, but the picture on the tv is distorted with whatever
the Panny is showing. I can however hear the channel the Pace
is on.
The Pace displays fine on av2 as soon as I turn off
the Panny.

Here is how I have everything set up.

Goodmans (rubbish tv) - scart av1 to Panny av1
Goodmans tv scart av2 - to pace av1
Digital aerial to Panny rf in
A cable (rf loop?) from Pace aerial in to Panny rf out.

Hope that someone can help!!!!

Many thanks
Matthew

I think the problem is that some telly's give OUT a signal from scart 2. And I think that's what you're seeing, the output is what is coming in via scart 1.

I'd try connecting the dvdr to the digi box, assuming it's got a 2nd scart plug - mine does and I can select the input on my digi box, not the telly.

    If you're with me.

Thank you, just tried that, and it works fine when the timer is set on
the freeview dvd recorder, it lets me change the av source.
But when I'm just recording a programme manually, the dvd
player won't let me change the av source.

Anyone have any other ideas, this is driving me potty!!

Use the RF loop on the Freeview box to your tv and set a channel other than AV to watch your Digibax program when the Panny is on.
Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????

    Thanks Aiadi,

I've put the rf loop from the digibox to the tv aerial socket.
I then tuned the tv to a non av channel but still have
    a distorted picture.
Do I need to change the scart lead positions too?
    Sorry if I'm being thick!!!

I got some great help over at av forums too, this seems
    to have solved the problem.
Here is the setup in case it helps anyone else.

"My setup works very well and takes into account the ES20's ability to input RGB. is a follows. SCARTs: STB (Goodmans) on AVI. ES20 on AV2, VCR into ES20. RF leads: Wall to STB, STB to ES20, ES20 to VCR, VCR to TV."

Many thanks to everyone who has helped
