Hi,
I have a house looking over a canal and would like to make the most of the living room by taking out the existing door and two windows and replacing with folding doors. The gap will be about 11 feet. It will need a lintel putting across the gap as well as the doors supplied and fitted. Has anyone any idea, as a ball park figure, how much it will cost me?
Any info will be very gratefully received

depends on what quality you require?
hardwood folding doors alone will be 4k. softwood will be approx half that cost.
sliding doors will be so much cheaper. about half again.
the lintel wont be too much, say 100/200 quid.
but the labour cost? say 500/1500 quid. depends where you live?Get some gorm.0 -
There is a big variety of sliding/folding doors on the market and big differences in the prices. I am comparing powder coated aluminium with engineered wood ones, which I prefer but come out more expensive but ordinary wood can twist and warp, even hardwood. I am getting quotes from Sunparadise and Kloeber, I also found companies on www.designyourhouse.co.uk A friend found the Folding-Sliding Door Company the cheapest but had trouble with the locking mechanism.0
