Stains on my butler sink

I used one of those stainless steel plughole guards in my (presumably porcelain) butler (Belfast?) kitchen sink and it has left a large round brown stain around the plughole about 6 inches in diameter.
I've tried SO many things to get the stain off! Started by leaving neat bleach on it overnight (did nothing) and progressed through bicarbonate of soda, baking powder, vinegar, a bag of salt and whole bottle of lemon juice left overnight, and I've even bought stuff called Barkeepers Friend and also a magic stain remover. These last two HAVE had a little bit of impact, the stain has definitely faded yet its still there, annoying me daily. In order to make it fade I have had to scrub really hard with the BF with a Scotchbrite pad and I am now worried that I may be damaging the porcelain.
I've now spent about £15 on products trying to remove the stain!
Any ideas?
