Hi,
I have an Acer 8930G laptop in my office at home which is connected via the VGA output to a Samsung Syncmaster 22" monitor giving me a dual-screen desktop with the Samsung as primary to the left of the laptop. To the right of the laptop, is a TV which I will be replacing with a new 22" LCD TV.
My laptop has both VGA and HDMI output and I have tested the HDMI capability elsewhere in the house, but was wondering whether I could use both the VGA AND the HDMI outputs to give myself a 3-screen desktop. I strongly suspect not, and its no big deal if its not possible; I am just curious (and will probably try it out anyway when I eventualy get my TV

Well i have a VGA and a DVI connected
VGA to tv
DVI to 15" monitor
I dont see how you couldn't connect a HDMI and VGA.
Best idea is try it lol.0 -
I would imagine that, while possible, the laptop graphics chip will be totally unable to handle the demands of a three monitor environment. Try it by all means, but it may not work very well.Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.0

Can't see why not. Matrox were making triple headed graphics cards ten years ago. Integrated GPUs are more than up to it nowadays.0 -
Well I'll try it & let you all knowChris Elvin0

I can't get 3 displays simultaneously
My laptop recognises that it has 3 displays connected, but will only send video to two of them at any one time - oh well, never mind Chris Elvin0 -
you could try different display drivers find what card you are using and see if the have an update. 3 displays can be tricky you can get specific card to handle it but most will only support 20

Indeed - I have checked the display drivers etc (Its an NVIDIA 9600 GT in a laptop) and it appears that 2 is my limit. No great problem, it was just an ideaChris Elvin0
