Hello,
Is there anyone who can give me some advice?? We are currently renting via housing association and we really would love to do part rent part buy. I know that it varies but can anyone tell me roughly how much monthly this would cost us something like 3 bed house in surrey buying 25 to 30%? is there anyone who does this who can tell me how much they pay monthly?
A freind of mine is part rent part buying a two bed property with 25% buying and she says she pays over 1,000 pm? not sure if shes telling the truth? does this sound right?
Many thanks, Cazmac

Sounds about right in London.
And that's why it's not 'low cost home ownership'?
Not a good scheme. At all."An arrogant and self-righteous Guardian reading tvv@t".

These part buy part rent schemes tend to be a bit of a con. The part you buy is always marked up. say if its 50% - if you double the amount they expect you to pay (so that it equates to a FULL buy), its always a lot more than similar properties on a full buying basis, at least from what I have seen in the past.0

ok thank you for your reply. think we will have a re think! its impossible we really want to buy a place but just dont have the deposit. better start saving!!0

The part buy is aimed at those who cannot afford to buy a property outright but want a foot on the ladder. It is a good option for some. In my son's case he could not afford the mortgage on a 1 bed flat, but was able to afford 50% share of a two bed flat and the rental of the spare room more that covered his rental payments."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi
