Aaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh!
I have just sat here for about 2 hours browsing this fab site. although i haven't actually got anywhere - my head's in a whirl and i need help!
We're all here for the same reason - money money money. I used to be in a very well paid job (which i hated) since i have taken a career move with sustantially lower pay (but a great career move - pay will improve every year). Hence DEBT!
General jist of it is:
I'm single and have been for a while (only my income). i have a mortgageand 50million other outgoings and now the wages have plummited it's going to pot.
I have got loads of options as my credit rating is excellent (i have managed to keep up with it for this long) but after struggling for a year it's not getting any better very fast! I'm mortgaged and loaned up to the hilt (i'm pretty sure) and i've been living on plastic this month! got paid.... still overdrawn familiar scenario!
The only positive step is i have eventually replaced my lodger so there will be extra cash there for a while. Where can i go to give someone allmy figures and say 'pleeeeeeeeeease help me!' i need to know what teh best way to go is. my financial advisor charges (as he did with my mortgage) and I kind of fel like he may bite my head off when he sees the states of my finances!
if anyone has any suggestions i will be eternally greatful and may even buy u a beer one day - if i can afford it! There must be someone out the to stop this headache and push me in the right direction?
Also i have heard about claiming back charges from ur bank and have read a lot into this today on this site. just this month alone they've slapped £75 on! does this really work???? seems too good to be true!!!
 this is how all this makes you feel!!!

Hey there, first step is to get a cup of tea, and take a breath. The hard part is done with, admitting there's a bit of a problem, and getting help. Now get everything down on paper - take a look at the sticky at the top - give us all your Statement of Affairs, and a breakdown of what you owe to who, with APR's and outstanding balances. Then we can work on getting your outgoings down a bit.
We're all really rather nice people, and we'll do our best to help you out. Just remember that every day from now on, hopefully you'll be getting better with money, and that your situation won't be forever. This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

Hi h8money. First off, well done for posting and taking the first step towards debt-freedom! :T
If you've been reading the wealth of information on this site then i imagine you're feeling pretty overwhelmed (but inspired!). Take one step at a time, which should begin with an SOA (Statement Of Affairs) so the fine folk on this board can help you see where outgoings can be trimmed, savings can be made and debts can be shuffled to lower interest rates.

A problem shared and all that...
Best of luck,

Hiya,
just wanted to say hello. We will help anyway you can, just pop up your SOA.
Reclaiming bank charges is fairly easy, and yes, it is possible, this is because the Office of Fair Trading ruled that the charges we have been getting shafted with for years are actually illegal.
Go to https://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk for more info on this.
be happy.
