New Bathroom

Options
I am looking to put a new bathroom in. I do not have the ability to do it myself, and will look to find a local fitter, but that is not my issue.

I am looking at paying for a basic new bathroom, fully tiled, with a bath, basin and toilet. Whilst basic it does not need to be the cheapest. Lets say I have a budget (incl fitting) of approx £2,500 - £3,250.

Can anyone recommend stores, both bath and tile, to both try and avoid. Also does anybody know when any sales are starting or are they already on.

Many thanks for any assistance that is provided.

If you want a cheap suite then try B&Q or any local bathroom showrooms for any clearance or ex-demo ones.

As for tiles again you can try the big tile warehouses to see whats being sold off or just for their budget ranges. Just try searching online or in the yellow pages to find what you have locally.

As for getting it fitted, thats the expensive part of it and you really need to get a local recommendation if you can and if possible get several quotes. Also might be worth mentioning to anyone you might hire exactly what you are planning on buying to make sure they are happy to fit it.

which discounts B&Q if the installer is worth his salt!

Isn't that great a difference in price between low-to-mid-range branded sanitaryware (Ideal Standard, Twyford etc) than cheap B&Q rubbish...and worth every extra penny IMHO. B&Q would come at the very top of my "avoid " list TBH!

Get some brochures from Ideal Standard and Twyford etc and get down your local plumber's merchants (don't expect showrooms..apart from maybe plumbase?).

Tiles get it from your local tile shops or somewhere near you so you can see what you will be getting and you can take it back and complain if it goes wrong.

If you're buying a whole suite plumbers merchants often have a deal where they sell a whole bundled suite, plumbworld, etc.

If you're getting someone to fit, best to stick to known brands.

added: just to say i downloaded the pdf for plumbcentre and they have a twyford toilet for £70 and a basin + pedestal for £50.

We fitted 2 of the B&Q Madrid suites in our 2 flats and although they weren't exactly fancy there wasn't anything wrong with them. All holes in the right place and undamaged etc. to be honest I wouldn't fit one in our house but then we never intended to stay long in the flats and it was vast improvement compared to what was replaced in both cases.

Very much depends on what you are looking for.
