My shiny new diary!

*EDIT - DON'T BELIEVE A WORD I SAY - I'M SURE I'M DELUSIONAL!

Hi everyone!

Welcome to my shiny new diary! I'd like to start on a positive note, so here it is - I AM ABOUT TO START MY FIRST EVER NON-SKINT JANUARY!!!

Can you believe it? After all these years, I have actually managed Decemeber and Christmas without over-spending into January's money. I got a bonus in october, and (probably stupidly) decided that it would be used to cover all of the costs of christmas, so that i could 'reset' myself, instead of always playing catch-up.

That's not to say that I have no debt - far from it. My sig will keep you updated on my debt reduction progress, but I really needed a place where I would feel obliged to record my stupidity, have a rant about the idiots that seems to exist (and usually do better than me) in this world, and cheer my successes.

So, anyone that fancies coming on this journey with me, welcome aboard! I guess that I will probably add to this diary at least every weeknight (much more interesting than marking schoolwork), but I tend to bury my head in the sand when I do something wrong (sound familiar? the root of a lot of my issues, not just money-wise).
Oh for Goodness' Sake!! Here we go again :(
Total debt £4,839.51 (Still adding it up though :( )
Now : £4, 759.81

good luck with your new diary. And I hope that you make great progress through the year. I am sure that someone has already told you that getting rid of the Provi is the more important thing - assuming their interest is as sky high as usual....

Wow! followers - YAY!! Hi, and thanks for joining in.

Chevalier - the provident does have an extortionately high interest rate, but it was applied when the loan was taken out, so as long as i keep paying at least the weekly amount, it won't get any bigger. I've never missed a payment (because they come for it - otherwise i'd forget!!), so i don't know what would happen there. I moved house last year, and kept missing the collection agent, so now i pay a month in advance - works for me and takes bigger chunks off at a time!

I went to a friend's for lunch yesterday, and gave someone else a lift, so a nice FREE day! I even got a bottle of wine for the lift, so that is now added to the New Year drinks, nd it snowed all the way home - bonus!

One of these days I'll have a feeling sorry for myself rant, but not today - the rain is falling, the house is warm and the Tigger Movie is on, DD is playing with her Crimbo pressies and i'm still off work - what more could you want?! Ooh, maybe a leftover mince pie...

    :( VERY SAD :(

I've just been looking at my bank accounts, and £80 that I was expecting next week has already been paid in, and I missed it - now I'm £80 down on all my calculations.

January will be skint after all

    GRRRRRRRRRRRR!!

Small world - yes i'm a teacher (in my tenth year) and I'm a Sarah!!

yes can't wait - when my debts have gone, I will be nearly £400 a month better off - hooray!

TC is the first to be crossed off - I pay 150 a month on that one, so it'll be gone by march :T

    Happy New Year everyone!

hope you all had a good night. I went out with a couple of friends and DD to a local pub, we found a seat and stayed there!! I managed a really good night out for less than £15 - bargain! I'm sure I'll miss it at the other end of the month, but for now, I consider it an achievement!

My mum bought me an enormous crock pot for christmas, so I now need to figure out some recipes for it. I've seen a nice one for Vegetable Paella, but any suggestions would be most welcome ;)

I managed to buy almost a month's shopping yesterday for £20, two large chickens, veg, rice, cheap pizza (gotta have junk at the weekend!), sandwich ingredients for DD for the month and a few other bits.

Hmmm....it's looking a little grim, and I was looking forward to a relatively easy january. Ho hum, best laid plans and all that .

Time for a challenge! It's New Year's Day, the time for some resolutions has come.

I'm off to Prague in February (thanks to the bonus in october!!), and so i need to lose a little weight - goodness knows there's plenty to spare! I reckon I can lose a stone in the six weeks up until then, so here goes.

I'm also gonna join the NSD challenge - should be easy, I have no money!! I'm not going to count money going out of the bank, only when I actually spend something. January's target will be 15 NSDs.

Third, my house is a mess!! Time for a change - I will list stuff (no numbers here!) on ebay and freecycle each week, until I have no crap left!! Should help a little with money issues.

That's it! I think three resolutions are enough to going along with. I'm off to find the NSD thread ....
