Curry's TV Insurance

18 months ago my mother bought a Kodak portabe LCD TV with built in freeview from Currys together with a 3 year warranty. When the switchover took place in September in our area, she now found that it took between 10 and 15 mins for the TV to connect with any channels and when it does, it does not show as many as she had before the switchover (TV is connected to a professionally fitted outside aerial which works another TV without any problems).
She took it back to Currys who telephoned the insurance people who in turn said that they would not honour the warranty because when the TV was built it was not built with the Switchover in mind!!!! So now she has a TV that is not working properly and an insurance policy that is worse than useless.
Is there anything she can do about this?? Would this be classed as "Not fit for purpose"? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Has she tuned it in properly and viewing perhaps by using av channel??
If it works even if it takes 10 minutes it works does it not?
Have someone check it first before putting in a formal complaint with Currys.0 -

Thats rubbish. The "switchover" has not changed anything. It just means analogue is turned off. The digital channels are broadcast in exactly the same way as they were when analogue was present. Is there anything she can do about this?? Would this be classed as "Not fit for purpose"? I would check its not her error first. Periodically, you are asked to rescan the channels. Does her TV require her to save that information (and she isnt hence why it does it every time)?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
