Buying Land, and where to find it ?

Hi
We have recently sold our house, and have been looking for a new one for a few weeks now.
Its become a bit stressful looking at so many properties, and failing to find the one for us. (apart from one which was suddenly taken off the market when we became very interested !)
I have decided to look for some land as well as houses, with the intention of building our own.
Where is the best place to find information that I don't have to pay for, on land for sale, with the potential for building on ?
TIA
