on the barbie or just at a barbie ?

Lightly grilled fruit kebabs would be good. We do the banana thing with a sliver of white chocolate, but not the cooking stuff or it just stays the same.

Otherwise what about toffee apple & other fruit. Just make a caramel with sugar & a minute amount of water, boil until its caramel, stick a cocktail stick in a peice of friuit, dunk & leave to set on a non stick pan.

or blitz togther doubl;e cream & fresh strawberies, thicken with gelatine & file one of those sponge flan cases that you can get in supermarket. Sort of half o/s.

I love slices of fresh pineapple just stuck on the BBQ after the meat has come off. If you leave the skin on it gives you something to hold while you eat it.
  • When we have our annual BBQ I always make a cheesecake (last year it was blueberry) and a lemon meringue pie. I always find that desserts aren't always popular - normally the rum punch is :rotfl:
Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )
Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)

Chop up some fruit as though making a fruit salad.

Wrap the fruit in some foil and place on the barbie for 10-15 mins.

Unwrap and serve with cream/ice cream...whatever you fancy!

The heat draws all the juices from from the fruit....yum!

For an Adult barbie. I can recommend Jamie Olivers Vodka Watermelon. Get a watermelon make a hole in the top put in a funnel and top up with vodka everyday for a couple of days. Slice up and serve at the bbq.

I do something called Barbados Surprise. Equal quantities of double cream and natural yoghurt mixed together, put a generous layer of dark brown sugar on top, and refrigerate for 24 hours. The sugar seeps down and forms a lovely kind of caramel syup swirl. Very moreish.
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

Does this caramel swirl go with anything or do you eat it on its own?

I'm happy to eat it on its own but I've been known to dip shortbread biscuits in it, and you could also have it with something plain like madeira cake (or even fruit like strawberries). It's quite thicky and moussey.

    Home made ice creams.

Rum bananas: Slice bananas, place into foil and top with brown sugar, desicated coconut and a generous( ) drop of dark rum. Wrap and place on the barbeque. Serve with ice cream or cream.
