Please Help, wireless PC and Xbox problems

Will someone please help me? I have virgin media hard wired and a Net gear G Router. My younger son got and Xbox for Xmas it is hard wired to the router and is running Xbox live without problems.
Oldest son got a computer in bedroom and is connected to the router wireless also no problems.
Today he got an Xbox (a present to himself for working so hard over Xmas).
I asked in Maplin if he would be able to connect the Xbox via his wireless computer and was told it would be OK. They sold me a cable to allow duel networking. The problem is the Xbox can find the IP address. Should I be doing something else to get it to work?
Sorry but I am not technical at all, I have searched the net all day for answers.
I hope someone can help.

Thank-you

Shellyd

    Tried this?

How to set it up depends on your operating system. Try looking for "windows ICS vista" for example.
  • Thank-you for your reply. I had found that site but will look at it again.
My sons PC is windows 7. The router is connected to mine and is XP.

    Thank-you

Had a similar problem in that our xbox is downstairs and the router upstairs and I didn't want to spend £60 on the wireless adaptor.

So, using wireless compter (I used laptop), connect the Xbox and PC with an ethernet cable, view network connections (from control panel or start>settings.network connections), highlight the wireless connection and the ethernet connection, right click and create bridge. Takes a few secs to sort itself out but when it has the xbox thinks the PC/laptop is the wireless adaptor.
  • Thank-you, I will try it and let you know.
