one wall at a time

I have just recently decorated my lounge with dulux matt. Although the finish is good there are 2 walls with picture outlines from previous tenants etc. My question is would I be able to get away with just recoating these 2 walls. I am a bit suspicious as I have previously used B&Q sarong paint in my bedroom and there are certain areas of the wall that dried a different colour to the rest of the wall and that is why I am asking. Would the dulux paint be the same as the other walls if I just recoated these 2 walls? I'd guess yes as it’s a higher quality paint to that of B&Q, but thought I'd ask all the same. btw word of warning to anyone buy B&Q one coat matt, don’t bother it sucks I had to do 3 coats and I’m still not happy with it, will be going over with a similar dulux colour when I can be bothered.
Might i be able to get away with just painting over the frame imprints with a brush and leave the rest of the wall as it doesnt really need it, go over some dirt spots as well. Would it dry ok and the same as what has already been painted?

If you are bothered by frame outlines, you won't like the result of patch painting, but it can help if you will do a coat over.
The frame outlines can show through for 2 reasons:- Staining
- Insufficient coverage

it would seem the old tenant were complete jippos and by the looks of it have never bothered to decorate this place and i think thats why it is that bad the walls were really bad. So will patch painting be that bad and noticeable? The colour im using is jasmine white a very light creamish colour. It doesnt bother me much but when I set out to do something I see no point unless its done properly and seeing as the frame outlines are viewable, i need to sort it. I was wondering instead of re coating the whole wall could i get away with just going over the framed areas.0

Its unlikely that you will get away with just patching over the fremed areas. You will be better doing the whole wall. And the fact that you have got all the equioment out, sheeted up etc, it would make sense to do the whole room. Then it will all be the same colour.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

As has been recommended sugar soap wash first. 2nd a coat of any oil based undercoat or Zinsser Bullseye or Dulux Trade Stain Block over it first will prevent any stain leeching through again. Then decorate with your preferred colour scheme afterwards to your hearts content. It even works with carp "own brand" paint from the sheds! Doesn't improve their coverage or finish tho LoL.
