  • Oh the poor blokes! :rotfl: Every film, date and experience has told them that they will be more successful by being free with their money when they meet a new lady, then you come along and through a spanner in!

As long as he can afford it, I'm all for being showered with flowers :rotfl:

  • Today, I went grocery shopping. I needed to come up with a meal plan. Found a great recipe for a veg curry with lentils (http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0820/is_335/ai_n15398244/) - overall cost to make c£3 and will last me the whole week - ok, so I'll have it over the course of 2 weeks. I would suggest adding chicken stock and a bit of sugar to neutralise the acidity of the tomatoes.

Am a meat eater and can only go for so long with no meat.:D If I had my way (and one day it shall be so!!) I would have meat everyday!

My original plan was to spend £15. However, £22.53 later....................

At least all the food I bought can be made into lots of yummy food and frozen. The downside however is that I now have £40 between me and payday. Umm. At least my transport costs are taken care of. Heres to payday in 3 weeks:beer:

Luckily for me my wife does all the shopping in my house - it saves me loads of money in the long run! A few people at work go to the local petrol station to buy a wrap or panini and at £5 a go they must be getting a pretty costly lunch each week.

I manage to survive quite happily on Sainsburys basics tins - curries, beans, stews etc. They are nothing glamorous but at less than a £1 for a whole lunch each day, like I said it saves us loads!

Here's to payday  mine is 23rd and currently have £80 until then - out of that I need to find petrol (approx. £50-60).

  • Today I made the rookie error of going to Tesco while hungry. Surprisingly, I managed to restrain myself - bought hot cross buns (buy 1 get 1 free pack of 4) for £1, Totilla wraps reduced from £1.32 to 69p and half price ready made pizza at £1.69. I then ate the whole pizza and I now feel horrid:(

Lesson for the day - dont ever eat a pizza which is more than your daily required calorific requirements in one sitting. That is seriously messed up:rotfl:

    Roll on Tuesday!!

That sounds like the sort of thing I used to do!! Although if I'm honest at the time I loved it! ;)

Best thing for me know is making a meal that can last for lunches at work the following couple of days - rice / pasta based dishes are good for this. (Apart from when you find a load of out of date 'bargains' in the cupboard like I did last week!!)

  • Happy Tuesday everyone!

No spend days are the best days! That is until it suddenly dawns on you that Transport for london are now charging £1.20 for the bus. Blooming heck! I'd clear forgotten about this. Seriously, how do you justify a 20% hike? I cant wait for summer so I can start jogging home from work, thus multitasking by giving the bus the finger whilst tuning myself into a goddess.......:D

Anywho, here's to lovely hot water bottles and no spend days:beer:
18 more days to pay day...........:j

Have to admit that TfL have annoyed me too this week with their price hikes. Damn them don't they realise that some of us are trying to turn pay off debts this year

Seems your situation is much like mine - have a good job and earn a decent salary but never have any left to spend!

Best of luck with your debt clearance and the diary!

  • Today I'm feeling rather philosophical. The question I'm pondering is whether at some point in one's money saving journey you can reach a point where you think things are going too far and if indeed too far exists? :think:Take today for instance. For various reasons which I will not bore you with I thought it would be a brilliant idea to have 4 hot cross buns for my supper. and then a totilla with melted blue cheese. With coffee. Seriously, who does that? I am so determined to no longer throw away food past its due date or that is threatening to turn into a planet for organisms I would rather not contemplate, that the distinction between breakfast, lunch and supper foods has all but turned into a blur. Hey, somewhere in the world its breakfast so..............:money:

Corona007, I totally agree with your sentiments and believe that it is the civic duty of public transport operators, town councils and Krispy Kreme to emphathise with those of us who are trying to do right by.....erh (am running out of steam!) ourselves!!

Rusty - lesson to be learnt is - meal planning with what you have is a good thing! That said, I'll always pick KFC (yes my secret is out - the reason for my debt!!!:D) over anything. I may be secret love child of "the Colonel........"!:rotfl:

    Onwards, and upwards!

    Celebrating 17 days to payday.........

    Debt-free and Proud!
With all this snow, doesn't payday seem a lot closer!! hehe

I shudder to think about of money I used to spend on food, and not just living costs but all the extras that I never needed.

mmmmmmm KFC - not had one of those for ages!

  • Radio silence due to having moved this weekend and caught a cold. Thus overspent to make myself happy......Not a particularly happy bunny at the moment. Will be back to my perky ways over the weekend. Hope you guys are all doing OK.
