I'm not sure if I am posting this in the right forum but I desperately need some help.
My daughter has an MSN account and today she went to school, only to find out that someone has got into her account, sent her friends some nasty messages and changed her password.
How can we delete the hotmail e-mail address she is using and the MSN account? We cannot access it at all. I'm sure it is one of her 'so called friends' who has done this as some of the messages sent were really mean and personal about the recipients. I'm totally at a loss to know what to do. I desperately need to sort this out quickly, as I'm worried about what could be sent, supposedly from my daughter.

Try Account Services
And In there you can delete MSN accounts, well should be able to but it may have changed since the MSN 8.0 edition.0 -
sorry to be thick about this, but how can I access anything, when I can't get into her hotmail e-mail account or her msn account? If I try to reset the password it will go straight to the account where the other person will see what I have done and I won't be able to see the new, reset password.0

Nope its me being thick, the only way would be to contact MS/Hotmail directly then answer the security questions that you made when registering with MSN.0 -

I don't believe they changed the password as you will not be able to delete the account.
If it's true that her friends received rude emails, it's more than likely a spoof.
The messages, check the headers and the source, more than likely a spoof.0 -

ok, sorry, next idiot statement from me. They have definitely changed the password to her msn account. She can no longer access it. The messages were definitely sent from someone who knew her, because of very personal comments that were made.
I've just sent an e-mail to hotmail, asking them to reply to my personal e-mail address, but I can't see them dealing with this very quickly0 -

sorry for being a thicko (I do have a brain honestly, just not concerning this sort of thing) but we won't know if they changed the e-mail address password because we can't get into that either. DD normally just accesses her hotmail account via msn, clicking on the envelope thingy. She is therefore locked out of both basically.
sorry for doing your head in about this, but I'm tearing my hair out here and she is crying her eyes out in the bedroom. Kids - who's have em :eek:0 -

Sorry I thought you may get email via Outlook Express, maybe phone them 0870 6010100 thats the switchboard me thinks. :think:0 -
Well when you sign up accounts with msn or hotmail you should enter a secret question and an answer.
You should also have the details of a password reset sent to an alternative address.
Password should also be $3¬mUl(*hJIty or something to that effect upto 14 long no less than 10.
Secret question as such: My favourite Pets name
Answer (Don't put something obvious) Big Bad Eric The Drugged Crazed Cricketer <--those type of answers.
O.K.
Goto log in at msn or hotmail and answer the secret question, tell us what you receive.0 -
When you or your daughter first created the Hotmail account do you remember seeing a section of the form that asked you to choose a security question and then to supply an answer? I can't remember all the security questions you could choose from but one of them was "What is your mothers maiden name?". If this sounds vaguely familiar, goto https://www.hotmail.co.uk, and click the link under the text fields that says "Forgot your password?". It'll take you to a webpage where you can begin the process of resetting your password. Hopefully, the twit responsible hasn't changed your answer to the secret question or changed the email address you supplied when creating the hotmail account. If the twit hasn't you should be able to reset it by either correctly answering the secret security question or by having a new password emailed to the other email address (if you supplied one during account creation).
Hope that helps.
leesmithg - lol, got there before me!I'm better off without you.0
