Random laptop advice!

Hi,

I am looking to replace my pc, its lasted about 5 years but recently has had quite a few crashing issues and am now looking with the january sales to get a replacement, I am thinking that the laptop is the way forward but I have one major concern as I currently use a basic Dell laptop for work and have experienced a lot of problems using this.

Basically I find when I am typing away on it that I often find that the text selects itself as I am typing and then obviously as I can on typing the text deletes itself, whilst it is annoying in some programmes where I have to just keep undoing it on other programmes i cannot undo it as some do not have this feature. I dont believe this problem is related to this laptop as I have found it on others. I personally think that it is the way I type and my hand hovering over the mouse sensor, I may be wrong though.

Does anyone have any solutions for this or ways round this? as it is probably enough to stop me buying a laptop.

Also I see lots of posts saying what laptops not to buy I am just wondering what key features I should look out for when buying a laptop, I am thinking around the £400-500 range and have seen this so far.

Probably need to adjust the way you work as it sounds like you're brushing the touchpad. Alternatively you could simply disable the touchpad (nothing to stop you using a mouse).

Either learn to not touch the touchpad, or disable it altogether.

Your crashing issues are probably fixable without spending any money.

Thanks but I have taken a look online tried a few things and had no success and tried posting my issues on a few forums equally with no such luck.

Back to the original point, is it that easy to completely disable the touchpad and use a mouse?

    Have you tried this forum?

Sometimes you can disable it in the bios, or synaptics touchpad software, but it's better to just learn not to touch it when you type.

Depends on the laptop, on my MSI it's simply Fn(function button)+F3 to enable/disable the touchpad. And as for using a mouse my laptop even came with a full sized mouse, no more complicated than literally plugging it in.
