My first time getting cashback on Buildings and contents.

I just need some confirmation as I have followed Martin's advice on getting the best insurance deals with cashback. I spent most of the night (I would rather have been doing something more enjoyable) searching and the best deal for a 2 bed semi for buildings and contents was £152. As this only had up to £30 cashback, I have opted to go for the Insure ( using Axa ) at £159 as I get £75 cashback by going through Cashback Rewards.
One thing, I am not sure to go for accidental damage for contents (I opted for building) as it puts the premium up another £20.
Please tell me this is a good deal as I don't want to go through it all again.

I do it the other way round.
I feel that damage to a glass cabinet, TV, leather sofa, carpet etc. is much more likely than damaging a pipe or part of the building and that's why I expect it would be more expensive.
But at the end of the day it's you choice.
What about legal cover?
What about personal possessions? Do you ever take cameras, watches, sport equipement etc. out of the house? Do you go on breaks in the UK? because travel insirance often doesn't cover UK trips.
Couldn't possibly comment on whether the limits you have are sufficient?
Where did the buildings and contents figures come from?
Is it a complete guess or did you have some form of valuation or calculation?
I agree it's complication because it's multi-faceted and there are lots of options.
The premium seems reasonable but you seem to be selecting on the basis of price and not reputation, cover or service.0 -
How do I know what the reputation of a broker is ? I am not just doing this on price alone, that's why I am posting here to check.
I have a camera that has it's own insurance.
The windows have key locks but when we moved in the previous occupants didn't leave any keys so I am not sure if it's possible to get replacements.
The house is mainly occupied during the day as I work from home but I do go out on location so it's a difficult one.0 -

AD is a must in my book.
It usually covers damage to soft furnishings. Paint spills on carpets. Rips to settees. That sort of thing.
If you have kids its especially important.
Looking at your quote there seem to be a lot of different excesses?
i am with RAC ad i have one voluntary excess of £60.00. That's it.
Also, as another poster said, what about personal belongings and cover away from home?
They are also important.
Some insurers offer unlmited cover for buildings and contents and no enforced excesses.
Cash back is all very well but if you make a claim you will lose the be fit with all the excesses they are applying, plus, the company i work for remove the cashback if claims are made.
Just a few things for you to think about.

Those that matter don't mind and those that mind don't matter!0 -
On that size of premium the voluntary excess you have selected / the website has defaulted to will probably only be saving you circa £7 a year0

Ok. Thanks, I will bear all this in mind. I just want to get it sorted out ASAP as already too much time has been spent on this. I have my camera insured anyway so I don't really think I have anything else that I will need to take out the house of any value.0
