You too  Best not to mention the word 'Mac' in this sub-forum. People might get the wrong idea

Now it's been mentioned more than once. Plus we've had linux mentioned as well.:eek::eek:

It automatically defrags in the bckground.

Personally I've never understood the obsession with defragging. It makes very little noticable difference to performance.

I agree. If your computer is running slow, needing a defrag would be way down the list of possible issues.

Bit of a weird post by the O/P TBH

Whatever came into my mind, I should have not have started this thread, because has someone stated times have moved on in the PC world. I haven’t had a Pc for the last three years I bought an Apple Mac instead. My only defence is that was the train of thought 3 years ago, most of my friends have PC’s and they often ask me for advice and as I can now see I have been giving them the wrong advice. So from that angle I have learned by posting this thread how out of touch I really am with the PC, and I will in future direct them to the relevant forums for up-to-date advice. So thank you all for your input and I wish you all a Happy New Year. Viv

there was me thinking you were being helpful then you had to come back and type some more, even throwing in a few swear words (Apple Mac) lol
Defrag can help you just need to know when to do it and its not recommended doing weekly, but nice little tutorial
Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.
