Warranty cover on purchased furniture - refundable?

Options
Hi everyone and Merry Christmas!

Back in mid-November I purchased several items of furniture from a well known UK retailer. All of the items purchased were from the shop floor and discounted.

About 2 weeks later I received a "Certificate of Insurance" through the post that showed that I had paid £90 for 3 year accidental damage cover. I was quite surprised as I hadn't asked for or been told about this.

One of the items of small print on the certificate says that if I want to cancel the insurance, I should contact the store within 14 days and they would be happy to cancel and refund the premium (£90).

To be fair to the store, they haven't charged me any extra for the insurance - I paid the marked price for the furniture.

My question - should I be able to save a "bonus" £90 by asking for my insurance premium to be refunded?

I've already contacted the store, who have flatly refused. They have said that the insurance was included for free and the prices were further disounted so that I didn't pay any more. The best that they could offer was to come and collect all the furniture and refund all my money in full.

Although I see their point, and don't think they've tried to con me, I do have a receipt and a certificate that say that I paid £90 for an extended warranty and I should have the "right to cancel"

What do you think? I'd be interested to hear your opinions.

Cheers
Mark
