Hi
I have a van that will have been in my ownership for 12mths and meets all requirements to use this scheme
What is the best deal out there at the moment?
I discussed 1 particulate car( Renault Twingo sport with cup pack) with 3 different dealers and managed to get the cost down be different amounts best offer being nearly
£4k in total off list and £300 better than other dealers
I realise the cheaper cost new the more attractive the deal is as I am getting a larger saving in percentage terms however I still want to haggle as much out of the dealer as I can
Is the deal all it seems, I here people who cannot get this scheme are still being offered discounts of the same amount
If for figures sake I was to buy a car with 2K off for 8K and Mr ? bought same car without discount for 10K would both cars be worth the same in the 2nd hand market could mine sell for more than I paid? or as Mr? lost a larger amount in depreciation!
Other point is Government give you £1000 but take £1500 in VAT on a £10k sale so are in effect profiting from the scheme
Would I be better off selling my van for around £500 and buying a 2nd hand car /pre registered / ex demo
All views appreciated

There will only be one trade price regardless of the amount you paid for the car.
The trade price is based on model, age, mileage, condition etc, what will make a difference to the trade price of two identical cars is condition and mileage which will be adjusted from the basic trade price. Whether you would make money on a car bought through the scrappage only time will tell, it would probably depend on the model and specifications, and whether the car was desirable in the second hand market.
