iPod Nano 8GB 5G

I'm a total novice with this product. It is suposed to charge from a USB port on my computer ............but doesn't. I'm assuming its because the port on my computer is not "high powered" ???? What product is best to get to be able to charge it? ........something portable would be best for my needs I think
Help gratefully received!

Thanks for your reply. It's just the same using the ports at the back. Does this make sense? Are high power USB ports a feature of newer computers?....ours isn't particularly new:o but the ports work fine for downloading music to the iPod

You could just buy yourself a USB card and install it in your computer yourself. It will also probably be faster than the USB ports you have at the minute.

If the USB ports work with other peripherals/accessories, then i'd suggest it's a problem with the iPod not the USB ports themselves. I have three Nanos, a 3rd Gen, a 4th Gen, and a 5th Gen, and all charge fine using both my work computer (which has USB 2.0) and my laptop (USB1.1).

Try a flash drive or a digital camera etc in the USB port. Do they connect ok?

The battery symbol should have a "lightning" symbol over it when it's charging.

You can buy a USB plug as well, to plug it into a wall socket.

Your USB ports should still work at charging it though. My powerbook has is 11 years old and charges my ipod with no problems. It should charge with no problems
  • Thanks all! As I said, I am a total novice with this product and didn't realise that it is actually charging :o. Sorry to have wasted your time........"I'll get me coat" :o
