Tipping in Sharm el Sheikh

It's the waiters etc who need the money for their own children to be educated. It's a bit late for they themselves to go to uni, most of them are men with families not 'boys' . There are only two classes in Egypt, the rich and the poor, and the economy was screwed up by the Russians many years ago..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

I dont know where you stay but in my experience most waiters, pool boys in the major tourist resorts are under 25.
The average age of the eyptian male is still under 25.
And i have still yet to met a pool boy or waiter who doesn't own a better mobile phone then me.
Everyone experiences will be differnt but i still dont believe in over tipping0 -
Never understood the "Tip the Bar waiter" bit, how do you make sure you always get that waiter, they all do different shifts, and are they going to remember you from all the others?0

not meaning to change the subject, to the OP, be aware if you need to use a chemist!!. a young lad that was at our hotel feel and his mum took him to a chemist for some cream and low dose pain killers for him. she got the same as over here ie calpol, and e45 cream and it cost her £25.00. when she told me i had a word with the waiter at hotel we were at and on the side of all the boxes medication comes in over there is the price it should be sold at. they will rip you off if your not switched on.
as for tipping we landed at the airport and i went to the toilet and then to wash my hands. there was this dirty looking local handing out 1 sheet of tissue paper and then demanding £1 english. i washed my hands and shock them dry much to his dismay.
egypt is a beautiful country with many places to visit and relax, enjoy your holiday but remember your money you have worked hard for a lot harder than most of the locals over there and dont be intimidated, you get the same in turkey, tenerife all over the world, stay wise

I am living in France, and will not have any £ coins.
Would they accept euro coins as readily as £ or $s?
Are there any cinemas which show films in English?
Thanks0 -
Will they accept euros as well as £s and $s.0

yes they will take anything you offer but again if it is a coin they cant use it unless they get a tourist to change it into a note.
a euro is quite a lot to tip each time as well.
Most hotels are used to guest needing small notes for tipping and i always ask at reception and they break the notes down for me. Egypt has also now introduced LE coins so it shouldn't be too hard to get small denominations to tip in0
