Problems With Wii Nunchucks

Has anyone else had this problem?
We've got three remotes and three nunchucks, midway through games, the nunchucks just stop working but the remotes are OK.
Any suggestions?

It might be a syncing issue between the wiimote and the wii, do they start working again if you unplug and then plug the nunchuk back in? (I presume you're using the wired ones rather than the wireless)
Is it just one game you have a problem with or several?
(I'm clutching at straws at the moment as never had nunchuk problems)
