Virgin Atlantic £120.00 Date Amendment Fee

I have just telephoned Virgin to amendment the the return date on our flight tickets due to a change in circumstances and have been told that I will be charged at £120.00 per ticket (there are 4 of us). This seems rather a lot has anyone else had this problem and can this be reasonable for one amendment.

That's quite normal, you will have bought a restricted ticket and thus any changes need paying for depending on the reason you may be able to talk around it but you would need proof, ie if its a death in the family you wound need the death cert. too many people try it on...The futures bright the future is Ginger0

That does seem a lot - I paid £50 to change the return date of my Virgin Atlantic ticket earlier in the year, I thought that was a lot, but it was clearly stated when I bought the ticket. That seemed to be the standard charge for Virgin at the time, either it's gone up a lot or it may be to do with the date you're changing to.0

don't you normally have to pay the difference in the fare you paid for and the new fare (and possibly plus an admin fee?) I don't think that there's a set price - it can vary quite a lot depending on the fare for the new date.
Otherwise you could buy a ticket for the cheapest dates near to your preferred dates and just change it to the preferred dates...that wouldn't really be fair to the airline.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Thanks for the input. Yes you do also have to pay any fare difference but they are the same in this case. Its a good job too with admin charges of £120.00 per person. Would be happy to pay fare changes and reasonable admin fee.0

yes you need to check the T & Cs when purchasing your ticket as different fares have different rules. eg, the current sale fares say10. Once a booking has been confirmed a. Date changes are permitted for a charge of £120 per ticket. b. Cancellations are not permitted. c. No compensation and/or refund will be made available.0
