help clearing cookies

I am having trouble getting on some sites and have been told I need to clear cookies and cache??? I am currently on AOL and I have just gone into settings and internet web settings -view files it brought up loads of cookies i have right clicked on these and pressed the delete button which then brought up are you sure you want to delete these cookies, I pressed the yes button but nothing has happened they are still all there?? :confused:

    Hi thanks, I have done this and then gone in to view files and there are still loads of cookies there, I have repeated it again and still loads there!!:confused:

    Cache and cookies are different things - have you tried accessing the problem sites now.

    Are these by any chance secure sites (banking, shopping, etc) that you are having problems with? There were reports of this a couple of weeks ago that need a tweak on the router to sort.
  • Yes, I am actually trying to pay for an item on ebay and it wont let me pay, I have phoned ebay up and they say it is something to do with cookies on my pc as they have gone into my account and there is no problem with it. I also tried to buy something on Jessops website the other day and couldnt purchase it just kept freezing at a certain point in the transaction

    It looks like AOL changed somethng which messed a lot of people up.

    Hi thank you so much, just followed the instructions in the post you gave and have now managed to pay for the item. Cant believe it, I have been trying for 2 days to do it. Thanks again
