Car Insurance - named driver no claims?
Good morning and Merry Christmas.
I am after a little assistance. We have helped my younger brother buy a car, and a month or so ago had a quick look at insurance quotes for him.
Now from what I recall, there was at least one company that had an option / choice online where you could advise that he had been a named driver on another car without actually having an accident. This isn't classed an no claims, but certainly helped with the price.
However, after checking a load of companies yesterday (Directline / Pru / Aviva / Esure) we just can't seem to find where we saw this featue....!
The closest we have found is with Zurich - but that refers specifically to a Spouse rather than parent (which on this occasion he has been under my Mum's insurance for the past few years).
So I was wondering if any of you guys had come across anything similar and could recommend an Insurer????
Thanks in advance.

I know that Tesco offer no claims discount for named drivers but I don't think this is recognised by other insurers -ie only Tesco offer the named driver a discount if they then take out a policy in their own name0

The best advise here would be to explain the situation to a broker.
Comparison sites are utterly useless unless you fit into their "ideal customer" criteria. If you'e a young driver, drive a performance vehicle, have NCBs from difference sources or anything "out of the norm" in their or their merchants eyes, then they are by and large a waste of time.
Brokers deal with this sort of situation every day. That would be the first phone call I make in this situation. (From my own experience, I can recommend Chris Knott Insurance - they've blown every comparison site out of the water for the past three years for me).Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
