Reconnection of Sky dish, box , dvd and TV

Hi guys a newbie to posting here some assistance needed !
Myself and my girlfriend bought her Mum a Freeview box for Xmas as she had recently cancelled her Sky subscription. I now know that this isnt compatable with a dish system ! Anyways her grandson tried to connect the freeview but through the normal aerial and after a few goes we only got 19 tv channels. As this was nowhere near the amount it should be it was decided to connect it back as it was before as her mum was receiving great pictures from the free channels through the dish. I had to try to connect it back up but wasnt sure what went where and grandson couldnt remember ! After many goes i still couldnt get it back working properly again , at one point i had the Sky menu's up but wasnt receiving a signal and it seemed it was only something simple needed but couldnt work out what ! Just wanting to know what should connect to what in laymans terms so a simpleton like me can understand !
The set-up is TV - 2 scarts, Skybox - 2 scarts, DVD- 1 scart and also an ordinary aerial cable and Skydish cable ( of which the metal connector keeps falling off ! )
Any help with this guys would be much appreciated, thanks

You can get all the free to air channels via the sky box. The unsubscribed card ought to work. If not you will need to buy a free to air card for £20. See here > http://www.sky.com/portal/site/skycom/skyproducts/skytv/channels/freetoair

It is pretty easy to connect. The sky connection goes to sky box. The scart goes from sky box to TV. That is all you need do ... The DVD does not need to be connected to Sky box - unless it is a DVR (i.e. to record)
Skydish cable ( of which the metal connector keeps falling off
I suspect that may be you problem and you need to reterminate the connector.

I hope you can get a refund on the freeview box?

  • Hi,

here's a handy wee gadget, shows you the set up, oh and, fix the connector on the Sky cable, it should screw into cable, a bad connection doesn't help.
