My house move has so far taken 5 mths and the latest completion date being mentioned is late July .
I am only hearing this from the people I am buying off.
We moved into rented about 2 months ago so that we would not lose our buyer, so we are ready to go !! The top of the chain has fallen through twice and from our latest conversation with the people we are buying from we are getting increasingly worried that this one is going the same way !
The chain is only us , the house we are buying and the house they are buying.Can I ring up the EA and ask for the phone number of the EA at the top of the chain ?? I really want to hear something from the top of the chain as I am beggining not to believe what I am being told from above !!
Our mortgage offer also runs out on the 27th July . Should I use this as a threat to get them moving.
One more thing , in general do you think threatening to pull out etc has a benificial effect on things when it comes to getting the chain moving.

My buying saga has been going on for months. We heard about a month ago that someone at the bottom of the chain had pulled out, there was a noew buyer but they too had a property to sell and a buyer. I phoned my buyers got as much detail as I could about their buyers searched them on the internet (b4usearch.com is good) an eventually tracked them down. I now have the phone numbers of everyone in the chain, talk to them directly and tell them when they need to speak to their solicitors. Knowing what everyone is doing makes the whole thing less stressful and means problems can be ironed out rather than get caught up in legal wrangling.
Personally I would only threaten something if I had the intention of carrying it out. By all means say you will look for other properties if thats wheat you mean, but threatening to pull out will just cast you as a prima dona and be ignored.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. The EA won't be able to give out any phone numbers without that person permission. ASk the EA & your solicitor what is happening, do thay know that your mortgage offer is due to run out.0

The EA could ask your direct buyer or seller for permission to give your phone number. Use these people to find their buyer and seller. You only need the rough area where they currently live and their surname + first name if common surname to track them down. You'd be surprised what google can show!
