Debt worries

Wonder if anyone can help, my partner and I have been living together for 5 years now and I'm concerned about his debt, this debt is not joint it is from his previous marriage. They include loans, credit cards from his marriage but also a car loan as when he left his wife he let her keep the car however he could not of worked without a car so had no choice
We are struggling to pay these debts off and it a constant worry.
My partner divorce 4 years ago but he still has equity in a house which his ex still lives in with new husband, he is having to use a solicitor to try and get this equity, whether they make her sell or she buys him out. however the solicitor is not cheap!
We need to be using the money we do have to pay for solicitor so we get results but we can't pay all our debts off every month and have solicitor do the work to get the money to pay the debts off.
I have wondered about putting his debt into an IVA as a temporary measure but is this the right thing to do? can anyone give any advice as really not sure what to do.

If you post your SOA (Statement Of Affairs) the fab people on here may be able to advise on where you may be able to cut back on your spending.
There's a link in one of the sticky's at the top of this board.
Congrats on posting, you've come to the right place for help.

Why would anyone on here do that? I've only ever seen the offer of help when people post an SOA.0

I hope that's a joke...people wont laugh at you esgirl; you might get the tough love approach but I'm pretty sure you wont be mocked.

This person is insensitive, hurtful and more than anything probably a TROLL!
Ignore and report - that's my advice0 -
Hi and welcome to the forum. I can assure you noone on here laughs at anyones SOA. Like someone has said you made get a bit of tough love but thats what is needed sometimes.
Post up details of your situation here and you will get lots of supportive advice.
Please don't be put off of this forum by one silly post. There are many of us on here, including myself whose life has been transformed by the lovely people on this board.

With respect Sir, you have shown very little consderation or understanding of anyone elses problems on this forum. Give to receive - this forum has been life saver for many people0

what an awful statement to make. 95% of people on here are fantastic. You get the odd few self righteous, granted as you would anywhere. But this person is asking for help. she's obviously read other threads and decided that she wants to take the big leap and get help from others who graciously give time and effort to help people like her in her situation. DEHAANI, please don't post comments like that again. Many people come on here as they are absolutely desperate for advice. Your comments only seek to drive people away and are an insult to all the good people on here. Most unfair!0

Dehaani - whatever your issue is with this board can you keep your comments to your other thread rather than this persons who has come on this forum for genuine help and by the looks of it has disappeared and most probably due to comments put on their thread.:mad:Proud to be dealing with my debts - DFW No: 712

Esgirl I'm sure before taking this step you have read other threads asking for help and support and will know that there is an element of tough love to this approach but some time that what we need to see the reality of the situation.
Good Luck ESgirl, I going through something similar, as my OH is divorced (he signed the house and its equity over to is ex) and is currently looking to go to court over access to his DS and we have only just started to address the debts he has from his marriage (as he has only just disclosed them to me)GC: £400/ £00 -
Ok, let's end the thread hijacking. Esgirl, get your SOA up and loads of lovely people on here will go through it with a fine tooth comb and you will be surprised usually with how much money they'll save you
I'm not the best at it, but just wanted to send hugs and let you know that everyone is here for you
