Any ideas - Garage key lost

Well - as it says in the title, we've lost the one and only garage key we possess.
It's an up and over garage door, and the key was a 'yale type key' (if you know what I mean, rather than a big chunky thing)
What is my best course of action to ever get in the garage again? Is it possible to get a new lock for a garage door? Do I call a locksmith, or someone who specialises in garage doors? Totally clueless as is DH
Thanks in advance if anyone is able to offer any advice.

2-3 months you could learn to pick locks - sure its on t'internet somewhere.
When we broke the key in our front door of our old house it took the locksmith 1 minute to get in - 45 seconds to extract the broken key and 15 seconds to open it - so access won't be a problem - they might charge you quite a lot though - especially as you will also need a new lock - at least we had spare keys inside
My neighbour locked themselves out, and really needed to get in quick - I used an old credit card and forced it round the lock in about 20 seconds - I changed ours very soon after !!I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Have you got a small door at the back of the garage ?
If not i think the cheapest way is to drill the lock and force your way in.
When i lost the key to my up-and-over door i was lucky that i could get in through small door. I disconnected the cable so that the lock didn't do anything anymore,, I then got a big hasp and padlock and drilled the drive at the bottom of the door and the door itself for the hasp.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Try another worn key, next doors should suffice. Locksmith will only drill it out, DIY0

Does the garage have a window. If it does, it would be cheaper to remove the glass and climb in. Most garage doors can be opened easily from the inside.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
No?
Oh!
Sorry!
I'll get me coat then shall I?

Im not sure how any of your post would help! a worn key or new key wont do a thing. and if the first tool any locksmith gets out of his van is a drill, ask him to put on his stetson and ride off into the sunset.
As for your garage door you would probably be better replacing the lock and get at least 2 new keys with it. should be under £60-£90 all in depending on where in the country you are.0 -
