Egg Card PPI

Hiya, Im just wondering initially if i have a case...
I got the egg card in 2002 or 2003 I'm not sure and had a limit of 1400 on it i think.
not to delve into it too much, but i was fairly irresponsible with it, and it ended up being cleared at the end of 2008, because they demanded instant payment. Luckily i'd managed to scrape it together!
My statements from that era only span from the end of 2007 to the end off 2008. now ive noticed on a few of the the words 'CREDIT CARD REPAYMENT PROTECTOR' amounting to about £10 on most of the statements.
On the website i can view the card details (number/limit) and stuff, but i havn't had the card in years, got shredded i think, and im assuming they wont re-issue it.
So, do i follow the 'Dance' and write to them asking for statements, then use the template letters?
anyone else had good/bad stories from Egg?

Welcome to the board/
I think the advice would be to request your SAR for this account to establish if you have been paying ppi it sounds like you have been, also you need to establish whether you have been mis-sold the insurance, follow the templates for this.
If you look on the successes thread you will find many good outcomes.
I am sure Di or Marshallka will be along shortly to give you further assistance.
Best wishes0 -

Hello there
Maybe a SAR request will be a good idea, where they will and should provide everything they hold on you, going back normally 5/6 yrs, even though I was lucky to have been provided with info going back into the late 1990's.
This cost £10 postal order or cheque payment.
Before you request for just the statements only, maybe you should ring and ask them how much they would charge for these, as it may work out a lot more dearer where the SAR is £10 for all info held on you.
No harm in asking them though for a price.

Oh excellent, i'll set that up tomorrow, and send it on its way tuesday!
And thanks for the luck.. i need it after the bank charges test case came back.
I honestly diddn't know what PPI was until i accidently clicked on a link a few mins ago, but looking at a few of the statements from that time its a wonder i diddnt cop on.. the min payment was, say £30.55, and the 'insurance' was £10.23, the interest on the card amounted to about £40.68. so that month, I payed off the grand sum of 11p.
I feel like a total mug!
never knew i could have opted out of the insurance!Credit card: [STRIKE]£2533.30[/STRIKE] £0 as of July '16!Overdraft: [STRIKE]£1700[/STRIKE]£0 as of July '16!Aim:Save for a working trip to New Zealand leaving late 2016/ early 2017!0 -

Your welcome hun.;)
Yes I know the bank charges issue is disappointing isn't it, however I'm sure Martin Lewis will find other ways around this.
In regards of reclaiming, the link here below will help, such as templates etc.

They say we learn something new everyday lol
, so go for it with whatever reason you have.
You can reclaim mis sold ppi on loans, credit cards, store cards, catalogues and so on.
So it maybe worth checking through anything you have had over the years, you never know.;)
Please ask for help anytime.
And fingers crossed for you.

It depends on your reasons for claiming. How did you take out the PPI, on-line or were you cold-called by Egg?
I didn't request an SAR but its usefulness would depend on whether you need telephone recordings etc and how straightforward your claim is.
I sent my reclaim in based on their being fined misselling even though my PPI was taken out a few months prior to that. I didn't have any problems and they paid out correctly and I got copies of all my statements quite promptly and at no cost which I requested in my claim letter.
As Di says, make sure you post all correspondence by recorded mail so you have proof of posting. Also ask that all communication is by letter and don't get drawn into any telephone conversations which they can use against you.
Good luck!!0
