totally fed up wth frends workmates recommending workmen who are nothing short of incompetent so for a recent plumbing job (to fix the bathrooom fitter bodge job) i called a national number that then allocates jobs to local plumbers - mainly because if anythings wrong there'd be no probs getting them back.

gotta say i was very pleased with the service - he resealed the bath plug and realigned the waste pipe and sealed it all off etc and was there for an hour - total cost £82 incl vat.

job done and i'm very happy. granted if he'd been there more than an hour it would have been expensive but for that price and to fix my leak i was very happy.

Sounds good. I'm cheesed off with workmen too. Could you tell us what the service is? Is it plumbers only?

i was in a similar situation. in the end i bit the bullet and went for british gas homecare.
i dont regret it. for the money it costs per month i now have piece of mind that if i need a plumber one will come out when i call them. how do i know? just after i started the homecare i had an emergency and called them. they were out within hours and saved me hundreds!

They will tend to be quite good, because the local fitter will pay quite a few ££ to be on their lists
